The season of Advent -
a time of preparing to celebrate the Nativity,
when we recall Christ’s first coming.
As we remember so also
we look forward in faith
to the Second Coming at the end of time.
It is a period of joyful hope.
Like the season of Lent,
Advent encourages us to take some time
to reflect and pray.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
FOR ADVENTCATHEDRAL ALL-DAY CONFESSIONS: Come Home for Christmas! On Thursday 12th December, priests will be available to hear Confessions from 8.30am (after 8am Mass) until 7.30pm in St Mirin’s Cathedral. There will be 30-minute breaks while Masses are celebrated at 10am and 1pm. We encourage you to prepare for Christmas by attending the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

- The 1st Sunday of Advent symbolizes Hope with the "Prophet’s Candle" reminding us that Jesus is coming.
- The 2nd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Faith with the "Bethlehem Candle" reminding us of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.
- The 3rd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Joy with the "Shepherd’s Candle" reminding us of the Joy the world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus.
- The 4th Sunday of Advent symbolizes Peace with the "Angel’s Candle" reminding us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.”
